About the Play

Fireball is a one-woman play based on the memoir “Fireball: The True story of a Tennessee Plow Girl Who Survived Poverty, Abuse, and Eleven Husbands with Wit, Wisdom, and Tenacity” by Hazel Lindsey and Julia Walker. We are so fortunate to have the playwright, Norman McMillan and author of the book, Julia Walker, at this event! So, whether you’d like to take a turn reading from the script or just sit back and listen, you’ll enjoy the incredible life story of this exceptional woman who lived among us in Meigs County, Athens, Sweetwater, and Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

About Table Reads

The Play Selection Committee of Athens Community Theatre hosts several opportunities each season to read plays and musicals for fun. Participation in a table read is a great way to “dip a toe in” to see what it’s like to work with ACT. The play is read in a casual setting: you can let us know if you want to participate or you just want to listen in. And you can change your mind at any time.
