About the Musical
One of the most cherished American classics, The Music Man, marches into The Arts Center for with a dyanmic slice of Americana.
Fast-talking salesman, Harold Hill, cons River City, Iowa, into believing that he can teach their children to play in a marching band. Before the fraudulent teacher can skip town with the loot, he’s got trouble. Harold falls for the quick-witted, not to mention beautiful, small town librarian, Marian.
The Music Man, with music and lyrics by Meredith Wilson premiered opened on December 19, 1957, at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway.
About Table Reads
The Play Selection Committee of Athens Community Theatre hosts several opportunities each season to read plays for fun. Participation in a table read is a great way to “dip a toe in” to see what it’s like to work with ACT. The play is read in a casual setting: you can let us know if you want to participate or you just want to listen in. And you can change your mind at any time.
