Prospectus

CRITERIA

  1. Exhibit only open to registration of members of the Tennessee Watercolor Society Eastern divisions.

  2. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

  3. Only original works may be exhibited; no work done in a workshop or class. Only the artist’s photo references may be used

  4. No work shown in any previous TnWS exhibit will be included.

  5. 25 artists will be given a wall space of 4 feet x 6 feet high to delegate equal wall space designated per artist (Pieces will not be displayed together unless requested, but rather will be spread throughout the exhibit with other artists. This is just to maintain that all artists have equal space despite size variations in their pieces.) Please note that there is a minimum frame size of 8in x10in for this exhibit.

  6. All work must be watermedia including any combination of the following: transparent watercolor, tempera, gouache, acrylic used in an aqueous manner (not highly textured), inks or any other water-soluble medium with the exception of water-based oils. Collage is permitted but all must be hand-painted and be limited to 25% of the painting.

  7. Substrates alternative to traditional paper are acceptable including but not limited to yupo, canvas board, clayboard, and watercolor board.  Paper with applications of gesso and/or grounds is permitted as long as the paint is water based.

  8. Artists are expected to present their work professionally and appropriately. (Work on paper should be properly matted and framed using either glass or plexi; work not on paper may or may not require framing.)  All pieces should be wired using flat hardware; no sawtooth hangers.   9. Pieces may be listed for sale, and all sold pieces will be released after show closing. AACA takes 25% commission off of sold pieces, so please be sure to price accordingly. You may include this information when you submit your piece information form later.

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Pay $10 artist fee here, and you will receive a link to enter your piece information in your email confirmation. Because of the importance of this email, please be sure to use the artist’s name on the “ticket,” and the artist’s email address in checkout.

  2. Our regular business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. You may forward any questions to artsed@athensartscouncil.org, call us at 423-745-8781, or visit us in person at 320 N White St Athens, TN 37303. Please note: our mailing address is different. It is P.O. Box 95, Athens, TN 37371-0095.

FEES

  • The entry fee is $10 per artist. These may be paid online, by phone (423-745-8781), by mail* (PO Box 95 Athens, TN 37371-0095), or in-person at The Arts Center.

  • Our regular business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

*If you choose to mail your registration fees, please be sure to include a note with the artist’s name, email address, and phone number so we can contact you with further information.

DELIVERY

  • Works may be hand delivered only to The Arts Center between August 4, 5, 7 & 8, during regular business hours (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

  • Should you need to schedule an alternate delivery time, please contact artsed@athensartscouncil.org.

PICK UP

  • Exhibited works must be picked up from The Arts Center between September 29 &30 and October 2 & 3 during regular business hours (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
    AACA is not responsible for artwork left after October 31, 2025.
